In this role you lead the Smart Metering Operations for gas and electricity, driving service delivery and team performance. You’ll partner across functions to implement efficiencies, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain data integrity. You will guide coaching and development to build a capable, accountable team. Responsibilites

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the smart metering program for gas and electricity meters
  • Drive team performance with clear objectives and measurable KPIs aligned to service standards
  • Collaborate with Market Ops Improvement Manager to implement operational efficiencies
  • Ensure OFGEM SLAs and industry regulations compliance by coordinating with the Regulations Manager and handling RFIs
  • Oversee data collection and reporting from smart meters with quality control to ensure data integrity
  • Work cross-functionally with Customer Service, Complaints, and Billing to resolve issues
  • Coach and develop the team through Personal Development Plans, skill assessments, and cross-training
  • Foster a culture of ownership and accountability

Key requirements

  • Proven management experience within the energy sector, preferably in smart metering or a related operations function
  • Understanding of the customer lifecycle and interdependencies between onboarding and interfacing departments
  • Working knowledge of SEC, BSC, UNC, MRA, DCUSA, SMICOP, and Xoserve flows (highly desirable)
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to deliver accurate work under tight deadlines
  • Practical, solution-oriented mindset with experience in process improvement methodologies
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with stakeholder engagement ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic understanding of software interfaces and incident resolution
