As an engineering leader in embedded systems, you will shape firmware and software for high voltage power supplies, guiding a global engineering community from design through validation. You’ll combine hands-on development with mentoring to build robust, safe, and high-performance HVPS solutions. You’ll influence product strategy, release processes, and technical documentation, while staying at the forefront of RTOS-driven and bare-metal firmware. This role offers impact across markets and a chance to mentor the next generation of engineers in a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Responsibilites
- Plan firmware/software development efforts and timelines
- Lead hands-on firmware/software design for sophisticated HVPS
- Collaborate with engineering peers to implement requirements
- Create and maintain technical documentation (diagrams, reports, manuals, release notes)
- Review customer requirements and support release processes with revision control (SVN)
- Drive continuous FW/SW improvement and research of latest concepts (DSPs, MCUs, FPGA, CPLD, SOM)
- Provide coaching and leadership to junior engineers
- Coordinate with global teams (engineering, sales, operations, quality) on projects
- Define technical approaches, manage risks, and ensure on-time, on-budget execution
- Participate in design reviews, ensure compliance with standards, and approve changes
- Support R&D efforts and product roadmapping discussions
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; 10+ years in product/technology development in power electronics
- 7+ years leading project development teams in a manufacturing context
- Experience with FPGA design (Verilog/VHDL) and digital systems (ADC/DAC, UART, RS-485/RS-232, Ethernet, USB)
- Proficiency in RTOS-based firmware; strong C/C++ and scripting/IDE usage
- Familiarity with design tools: emulators, JTAG, SVN; MATLAB/Simulink; PSIM
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Experience with design verification, documentation, ECN creation, and software/firmware releases
- Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership abilities
