In this role you will drive decarbonisation and energy transition within buildings and campuses. You will lead client-facing mechanical/energy projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and develop sustainable infrastructure solutions. You’ll work with ENGIE/Tractebel networks to apply new technologies and deliver commercial, technical, and regulatory-compliant outcomes. The opportunity combines hands-on design with business development and sector leadership to advance zero-carbon built environments.

Responsibilites

  • Oversee a project team on large programmes
  • Lead client-facing design and coordination of mechanical/electrical installations
  • Provide technical and commercial support for sustainable infrastructure solutions
  • Collaborate with ENGIE Group units and Tractebel to deliver projects
  • Assist Central Engineering and R&D to incorporate new technologies
  • Lead site energy, water and waste audits for new energy transition projects
  • Conduct techno-economic studies with modelling tools
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations for demand side reduction, renewables, storage and grid connections
  • Support marketing and business development to build a long-term pipeline
  • Participate in project delivery governance including QA/QC and financial management
  • Represent RED at technical meetings with clients and contractors
  • Prepare project fee proposals and cost plans; undertake site surveys and due diligence reports
  • Produce technical white papers to promote RED capabilities
  • Travel and work autonomously across regions, with flexible hours as needed
  • Mentor and lead sector management activities and cross-functional teams
  • Ensure ethical conduct and compliance with company guidelines

Key requirements

  • BSc/BEng in mechanical, electrical or process engineering or equivalent experience
  • Chartered status or working towards chartered (MCIBSE/MIEE or equivalent)
  • Experience with building/campus scale services and distributed generation
  • Experience with microgrids, district heating/cooling, energy centres, and energy storage
  • Experience across diverse sectors (manufacturing, petrochemical, Life Sciences, Data Centres) and international project experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legisation and contract law
  • Proficiency in MS Office; ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheets
  • Good understanding of UK/EU standards and regulations; invoicing and credit control knowledge
  • Strong presentation, leadership, and meeting facilitation skills
  • Background in consulting, contracting or project management; ability to work with global networks
  • Excellent communication, customer focus and team spirit
  • Willingness to travel and work across cultures
